: Fancy or Natural?

It’s interesting to see the evolution of not only my dreads, but my dread’s style. In the beginning I was obsessed with beads and thread wraps and any sort of “dread decoration.” I did the wool roving dreads for a while. It was exciting at first because I thought, “holy shit I can put STUFF in my hair.” No one can tell you NOT to put these things in regular hair, either. Its a shame I waited until dreads to do it!

But, now that my dreads are mature, I have taken out almost all of the wraps and beads. One of the wooden beads had to be cut out because it was from the first week and very stuck. All I have left for decorations now are:
a long wooden bead
a grey lace stitch that is sewn in
a brown and seafoam green thread wrap

I may take the thread wrap out soon as well. Its interesting to see dreadlocks and your taste in them change. In the beginning I was I to well maintained and highly decorated dreads, and now I prefer natural dreads with little decoration (for my own).

However I still see colorful wool roving dreads that I adore!

Yes. This. I’m grouchy when I don’t have food or coffee in the morning.

Holding hands may seem like an innocent gesture, but they show more than a simple interlocking of fingers. Your hands are one of the most essential parts of your body: you build with them, feed with them, hold with them, touch with them, fight with them; they are the tools of the human body. To take a hold of another’s hand is to break from living individually. It is to link yourself to another being, to momentarily entwine your life with another’s, to promise, for a moment, that you need not face the world alone. More simple, more aesthetically naive than other forms of affection, i.e kissing, hugging, sexing.., the act of holding hands is often trivialized in its true implications.

What a great idea. When I get a bunny, I will keep her in a teacup too.
